Here is a short list of the items you should have before you bring your finches home:

- Cage lining
- A travel cage
- An Aviary that is at least 20” x 20” x 50” is the minimum size for two finches
- Perches- At least three perches of various textures and sizes
- A good finch seed mix
- Pellets

- Water Dish-at least 2
- Bathing Dish

While this is not a complete list, it is enough to get you started on the right foot. When you bring your birds home, it is important that they are made as comfortable as possible as quickly as possible. The simple act of traveling from their old home to their new one can be stressful for these birds. Being properly prepared for their arrival is the best way to alleviate stress and anxiety in both you, and your new pets.
Also note that you don’t necessarily need a cage and an aviary, but you do need to decide before you bring your birds home how you plan to house them and have it ready for them upon their arrival.
